The town of Murree was developed in the early 1850s for the British Military Troops. It is blessed with dense forests, fresh air, a pure environment, mountains, waterfalls, and wildlife housed in the Pir Panjal Mountain Range. Because of this, it was initially developed as a sanatorium for the British Army. Its natural beauty and purity soon gained much hype among the Britishers and other Europeans; they started to settle in, and it began taking the shape of a proper town. They built a church and a main road in Murree, the way old European Cities were built.
With the 1947 independence movement, Murree became part of Pakistan. Because of its cool climate, variety of tourist activities, range of accommodation facilities, and easy access, Murree has since emerged as the most popular tourist destination in Pakistan.
